SHRINE TO MOTHERHOOD

Stills + documentation for ‘Shrine to Motherhood’, an art piece by Haywood Watkins III reflecting on the maternal mortality rate of Black Women. In collaboration with Meredith Wheeler of Secret Flowers, this installation responds with more than 1,000 flowers wrapped as Mother's Day bouquets, resting together as a makeshift memorial. A gesture of love repurposed into an act of mourning.
